Can You Still Hit With Bad Hitting Mechanics?

Can you still hit with bad hitting mechanics? I get this question all the time. Look - I bailed, lunged and had a bad eye, but I could hit because I was a better competitor than I was a hitter.

Let me repeat that.

I was a BETTER COMPETITOR than I was a HITTER.

Don't get me wrong. Mechanics are important but I'd rather have nine guys with average swings but a mindset over nine guys with perfect swings but no mental game or approach.

When you get to a certain level, typically at the collegiate level, hitting becomes more about the approach and mind-set.

I believe this was the one thing that kept me in TRIPLE A for 13 years. I developed the mental game a tick too late.
